Sioux North High School Prom
Inspired by “The Great Gatsby”, a 1925 novel written by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald, the theme of this year’s Prom at Sioux North High School (SNHS) last Friday evening was “Party like Gatsby”.
Prom was organized through a collaborative effort among Student Council and the Leadership Class.
SNHS Guidance Counsellor Shawn Hordy, liaison to the Leadership Class, said Prom was open to all students, who were also able to invite guests. Approximately 300 people attended Prom 2024.
This year’s Prom included a DJ, photo booth, as well as a VIP area for potential graduates and their guests.
“It’s nice to see everyone dress up and come out and have a fun time” Hordy remarked.
Grade 12 student Elizabeth McClure, head of Student Council and a member of the Leadership Class shared of this year’s theme, “In English we all read the book “The Great Gatsby” and we thought it would be a cool idea to do that theme.”
Student Council and the Leadership Class conducted several fundraisers over the course of the school year to help with the cost of this year’s Prom.
“I’m proud of what we did. I’m happy this is how I’m graduating,” McClure shared, thanking everyone who helped make this year’s Prom happen.
