Kenora—Kiiwetinoong MP Eric Melillo has been named Conservative Shadow Minister for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor).
“I am honoured to continue serving with the Official Opposition Shadow Cabinet in this important role,” stated MP Melillo. “FedNor investments must support unlocking economic growth for northern Ontario. I will closely monitor government spending and programs to ensure that the Agency meets this purpose.”
A press release Melillo’s office states, “MP Melillo has served as Conservative critic for FedNor since 2020. He has previously highlighted mismanagement in the Agency, including its failures to meet service standards, awarding of contracts to businesses outside of northern Ontario, and procurement practices that disproportionally support businesses outside of the region.”
“I look forward to continuing to be a strong advocate for northern Ontario, and to working with my Conservative colleagues in Ottawa to advance economic development opportunities for communities and small businesses across our region,” MP Melillo added.
