Christmas Arts & Craft Fair
The Sioux Lookout Recreation Centre was bustling with activity last Saturday as more than 700 people attended the annual Christmas Arts & Craft Fair presented by the Friends of Cedar Bay.
“This year’s Fair went very well. There were 36 vendors from around the region - Sioux Lookout, Hudson, Lac Seul, Wabigoon, Dryden, Vermillion Bay and Thunder Bay,” shared Friends of Cedar Bay Board Member Joyce Timpson.
Jewelry, knitting, woodworking, pottery, crocheting, embroidering, baking, art work, photography and more creative works were available for purchase for someone special this Christmas season.
Timpson said this year’s turnout was considerably more than last year, the best turnout for the fair in years.
“This year we had the pleasure of music in the lobby,” Timpson said, explaining that John and Joan Dykes performed on classical guitars, and students of Twylla Penner played Christmas songs on electric piano.
“And of course Santa Claus staying a while this year was a big bonus,” Timpson said. “We are most grateful to everyone who supported the Fair - vendors, entertainers, volunteers, concessions and the patrons without whom we’d have no Fair.”
“This Fair greatly contributes to the ability of Friends of Cedar Bay to provide non-equine outdoor activities at our beautiful Cedar Bay,” Timpson added.
“So many volunteers to thank from Friends of Cedar Bay, Nordic Nomads, Drifters Shriners. We are especially grateful to the staff of the Recreation Centre, Sioux Mountain Public School, and Red Apple for their support of the event. The Fair seems to get better year by year. Looking forward to next year, the first Saturday in December,” she concluded.
I had two wonderful evenings back home in Kenora and Dryden at the Kinsmen Santa Claus Parades. Thank you to the Kinsmen and all the volunteers that make these parades possible every year...
