One person was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a three-vehicle collision which took place on Highway 72 on the morning of Oct. 16.
The collision took place near Abram Lake Road.
The incident involved one SUV and two pickup trucks. Sioux Lookout OPP said there were no other injuries and that all three vehicle occupants involved were assessed by EMS.
Sioux Lookout OPP said the collision is not under investigation and that snowfall earlier that morning was not a factor. Police are, however, encouraging motorists to change over to winter tires “as the cooler temperatures cause the rubber to harden, which negatively impacts traction.”
Highway 72 was closed in both directions between Sun and Sand Road and Pine Avenue from shortly after 9 a.m. until approximately 10:45 a.m. “to allow first responders to assess the situation and remove the vehicles, and debris from the roadway.”
Multiple motorists had called 911 to report the collision.
Sioux Lookout OPP shared, “Motorists should always be aware of their surroundings, reduce distractions, leave space between vehicles, and change driving behaviour based on changing road and environmental conditions.”
