Third Annual Sioux Lookout Renaissance Fair draws hundreds of visitors

Farlinger Park (Town Beach) in Sioux Lookout looked like it had been transported back to medieval times on Aug. 8 during the Third Annual Sioux Lookout Renaissance Fair, which was themed “The Opening of the Lion’s Gate Portal”. 
Michelle Diston, one of the event’s coordinators, shared, “Wow, what an awesome day! This has grown so much in three years.”
Many of the participants and vendors dressed up in medieval or fantasy attire during the event, which included a costume parade.
Huntress Medieval donated costume prizes.
“We had a great turnout,” Diston said. “There were so many more costumes. Even with the rain the vendors said they had a great time too.” 
“We also had horses and cart rides at the fair this year (Abotts’s Carriage from Thunder Bay). That was so beautiful. We had wonderful vendors all getting excited about crafting for this theme. The Dryden Renaissance Fair brought their pickles on a stick as well as axe throwing. Big thanks for their participation,” Diston stated.
“Along with all the amazing vendors, we had more activities as well. The kids noodle jousting was a hoot. Tug of war on the beach was a good time and there were games and crafts in the big tent,” she added.
Members of Superior HEMA from Thunder Bay put on sword demos during the event.
“A big thanks goes out to all the who helped out. The team: Natalie Popovic, Laney Gliddy, Samantha Wood, Suzanne Favot, Jyoti Sharma, Cynthia Suprovich, Samantha Wood, Reece Van Breda, and volunteers that came out,” Diston concluded.
