SIU investigating incident in Sioux Lookout

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate after being notified by Sioux Lookout OPP following an incident which occurred on Nov. 29.
On that date, at approximately 7:17 p.m., Sioux Lookout OPP members responded to a disturbance at a local business.
According to a news release issued by Sioux Lookout OPP, “A 22-year-old male was arrested at the scene for public intoxication and was lodged at the Sioux Lookout OPP Detachment. He was released unconditionally the following day.
“On December 3, 2019, the male returned to the Sioux Lookout OPP Detachment, reporting that he had sustained an injury while in police custody.
“The OPP notified the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate”
