Sioux Lookout Public Library hosts regular movie nights

Sioux Lookout residents had the chance to see the revamped live-action version of a 1941 Disney classic during a screening of Dumbo, at the Sioux Lookout Public Library on July 29.
The screening of Dumbo is part of regular movie nights that are hosted at the Sioux Lookout Public Library.
“Usually we have a movie night every Monday evening in the media room at six o’clock. Sometimes it will be adult movies and sometimes it will be kid’s movies. Also on Saturdays we show a movie at one o’clock in the media room,” said Sioux Lookout Public Library Assistant/Children's Librarian Ada Wassink.
“Almost always they’re new movies. As soon as they’re out on DVD we make a list of ones that we think our patrons would enjoy, and then we buy them straight from Amazon so they come quickly. Sometimes we get movies from the National Film Board of Canada, so those have more historical value. Those won’t be new releases necessarily,” said Wassink.
During the month of August, the movie nights will be put on hold due to two outdoor movie events that are being hosted at the Sioux Lookout Public Library during the 37th Annual Sioux Lookout Blueberry Festival. The movie nights will be resuming come September.
The GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) Teen Outdoor Movie Night is at the Sioux Lookout Public Library on August 9 at 9 p.m., which will feature Captain Marvel being projected along the back wall of Fresh Market Foods. Those who attend in a costume will be eligible to win prizes.
There is another Outdoor Movie Night at the Sioux Lookout Public Library on August 10 at 8:30 p.m., which will feature The Missing Link being shown along the back wall of Fresh Market Foods.
The date, time, and title of the movies are always featured on the Sioux Lookout Public Library Facebook page and website.
“We always post on our Facebook page as an event. It’s also on our website and in our program calendar as well,” said Wassink.
