Search for missing woman ends tragically

Investigators of the Sioux Lookout Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed in a Dec. 2 news release that Larhonda Miranda Shingebis, 31, a member of Cat Lake First Nation, has been located, deceased.
Police shared, “On November 26, 2022, a deceased individual was located in the Sioux Lookout area. A post-mortem examination at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto has confirmed the identity of the deceased and found no indications of foul play.”
Shingebis had been reported missing on November 14 and an extensive search had been conducted.
Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) located her body in a forested area in Sioux Lookout.
Ontario Provincial Police will not be releasing details regarding the nature of her death.
Police shared that an extensive search had been conducted in an effort to locate Shingebis which included OPP ERT, OPP Canine, OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, Remotely Piloted Aircraft System, and members of Cat Lake First Nation assisted with the search.
“The family has been notified and would appreciate privacy during this difficult time,” police shared.
“The OPP would like to thank the public and media for their cooperation and assistance during this investigation,” police added.
