Report From Parliament Hill
Eric Melillo, Member of Parliament Kenora—Kiiwetinoong
Dear Constituents
In July, I was honoured to travel to Birmingham, Alabama, as part of the Canadian delegation attending the 79th Annual Southern Legislative Conference.
The conference brought together 15 southern American states to discuss economic prosperity. As a member of Canada’s delegation, I had the opportunity to represent northwestern Ontario in discussions about energy, economic development, and infrastructure.
It was great to contribute to these productive discussions and continue building important relationships with southern representatives.
Canada has long been a reliable partner and trusted friend to the United States. Both countries have enjoyed the mutual benefits of our economic cooperation.
My Conservative colleagues and I remain committed to working with all parties to take back control of our economic future. We have called on the Liberals to achieve this goal by repealing anti-development laws, reducing taxes, and breaking our dependence on the United States.
We continue to hold out hope for a deal to end all U.S. tariffs on Canada. That means zero tariffs on our steel, aluminum, softwood, autos, energy, agriculture, and everything else.
Our Canadian economy must be strong, self-reliant and sovereign. We must stand our ground and put Canada first, and get the best deal for our country.
