Report From Parliament Hill
Eric Melillo, MP, Kenora Riding
Dear Constituents
I was in Ear Falls to meet with Mayor Kevin Kahoot. We talked about opportunities to grow the local economy and address housing needs in the community. I also met with Red Lake Mayor Fred Mota about new mining developments and potential housing starts in the region. A Conservative government will be the partner we need to capitalize on these opportunities.
It was great to speak with civics students at Red Lake District High School as they learn about our democracy and the role of our federal government. I also visited the Evolution Mine in Balmertown to learn more about their gold mining operations and the important jobs this industry provides.
I ended the week meeting with Ryan Reynard, Chair of the Kenora Airport Authority, and Dryden Mayor Jack Harrison to discuss the impacts of Bearskin Airlines discontinuing service to both communities and how we can move forward. Many residents rely on this service for often essential transportation, such as work and medical appointments. I am committed to working with our local airport authorities to find a viable option to keep people in northwestern Ontario moving.
