Dear Constituents,

Earlier this month, the NDP-Liberal federal budget was unveiled and just this last week inflation hit a 30-year record high at 6.7%. There is no denying we are in the midst of a cost of living crisis. 
Cost of Living Crisis
People are struggling to pay their bills, put food on the table and fill their gas tank. The more that the government borrows and prints money to finance their broken promises, the more they’re asking Canadians to pay for basic goods.  If the government doesn’t stop their out of control spending, the situation will only get worse.  
Despite the skyrocketing cost of living, the recent federal budget makes no certain promises to rein in spending, and lower inflation.  Rather, the budget has only added to the economic uncertainty Canadians are facing. I believe we can have strong social programs for generations to come, while being fiscally responsible. The government’s current tax, spend, borrow and print method puts the promise of strong social programs for future generations at risk.  It isn’t right or fair to borrow on the backs on Canadians who haven’t been born yet, and that’s exactly what this government is doing. 
I am calling on the government to reverse their carbon tax increase, introduce a GST break on gas prices and put forth a real plan to reduce the cost of living for Canadians.
Trudeau’s Truck Tax
There are reports that Justin Trudeau is considering implementing a new tax on trucks and SUV’s.  This is simply another example of how out of the touch the NDP-Liberal government is with Canadians.  Canadians across the country rely on trucks and SUV’s to get to work, do their jobs, visit loved ones, travel to medical appointments and ensure their safety on dangerous winter roads. As cost of living increases, the last thing anyone needs is another tax that’ll only make their life more expensive. 
I am opposed to any new taxes and will continue to fight against the governments proposed tax hikes. My colleagues and I will always advocate for common-sense solutions to leave more money in the pockets of hard-working Canadians.
