Remembrance Day tribute
Panels adorned with hand-crafted poppies adorned the town clock (pictured) in Sioux Lookout last week, a Remembrance Day tribute.
Poppy adorned panels also graced the Upper Legion Hall as well as the front of the Recreation Centre and at the Salvation Army Thrift Store.
In Hudson, poppy adorned panels graced the cenotaph.
Created by community members in year’s past, Pat Uren and Julie Makar, along with Kathy Story, ensured the panels in Hudson were looking their best.
The panels adorning the town clock were set up by Dorothy Broderick and Kelli George-Egerter.
“Alcona has a nicer set up this year as well. Donna DuCharme, Cheryl West, Connie Norman, and Carol Favot made poppies for the new panels. Donna contributed quite a large amount of poppies,” Broderick shared.
“Thank you to Kelli George-Egerter for the work hanging the clock panels and the Rec guys for hanging up the ones there. Thank you to the Hudson Remembrance Day committee for taking on the display there. Thank you to everyone who has contributed over the years we’ve been doing this. We reuse them every year, so their contribution is ongoing. Whether the contribution was making poppies, attaching them to the panels, providing bricks to help them stay put, donating hangers for the panels, yarn for the poppies, or time and effort to install them. Every bit makes a project come together,” Broderick shared.
