The Sioux Lookout Minor Hockey Association (SLMHA) is preparing for the upcoming season.
Registration for the 2021-2022 SLMHA season opens on September 1 and closes on October 1. Late registrations will not be allowed.
Information shared by SLMHA states that, “A link to a Hockey Canada online registration form is posted on the SLMHA website (slmha.net/registration) and can also be found on our Facebook page. Registration fees must be paid by either cheque or EMT.”
SLMHA Goaltender Convenor Micheal Laverty clarified, “Our association is following the Return to Hockey guidelines outlined by Hockey Canada (we encourage you to review that plan on their website). We will take guidance from our local Northwestern Health Unit and follow the safety measures in place at the Memorial Arena.”
According to the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, the ice at the Sioux Lookout Memorial Arena is anticipated to be available to the public and the arena’s user-groups as of Monday, September 13th.
“We look forward to another year of building a love for the game in our participants and making memories with teammates. Although 2020-2021 was an unusual season, over 190 skaters from Sioux Lookout and several nearby communities joined a SLMHA division. Our youngest division is Under 7 and our oldest is Under 17,” Laverty informed.
“It’s never too soon or too late to start a career in the SLMHA. Our coaches welcome skaters of all abilities. Please consider signing up the young skater(s) in your life or giving your time to make our association even better. Join a team of volunteers including trainers, managers, referees, on-ice helpers, and division convenors who ensure everyone is safe and having fun,” Laverty added.
People can email Laverty at mikelaverty@gmail.com, or phone/text 738-1948, or message Sioux Lookout Minor Hockey Association through Facebook Messenger with any questions or for help with registration.
