Project Campus leads to $175,000 drug seizure in Sioux Lookout

A police investigation which began in March, focused on the trafficking of illicit drugs from Toronto to Sioux Lookout, has resulted in the seizure of suspected illicit drugs estimated to have a street value of approximately $175,000.
Ontario Provincial Police shared in a May 6 media release that, “On April 30, 2026, shortly after midnight, members of the Sioux Lookout Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the Dryden CSCU, Thunder Bay CSCU, Kenora Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Thunder Bay OCEB, Treaty Three Police Service, and the Northwest Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), conducted a traffic stop on Highway 72 in Sioux Lookout involving a vehicle connected to a drug trafficking investigation.”
OPP further shared, “The investigation began in March 2026 and focused on the trafficking of illicit drugs from Toronto to Sioux Lookout. Throughout the investigation, officers identified multiple individuals and a vehicle of interest.
“As a result of the traffic stop, police seized approximately 460 grams of suspected cocaine, 253 grams of suspected fentanyl, 108 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 312 suspected hydromorphone tablets, and 63 suspected oxycodone tablets. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $175,000.”
Three individuals were arrested and charged in connection with the investigation.
A 22-year-old Winnipeg resident was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - 5 counts
A 16-year-old young offender was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - 5 counts
- Fail to Comply with Release Order
Another 16-year-old young offender was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - 5 counts
All three accused individuals were held for bail and remanded into custody at the Kenora District Jail.
