Sioux Lookout Lions Club seeking donations for Canada Day celebrations

The Sioux Lookout Lions Club is calling on residents and businesses to support them in purchasing fireworks for this year’s Canada Day celebrations.
In a post on Facebook, Lions Club member Debbie Michaud shared, “Every year we raise money to purchase the fireworks for our town – some years we do really well, other years we need extra help – this year we could really use a little extra financial assistance.”
Every year the Lions Club not only purchases the fireworks, but they also arrange an afternoon of activities.
“The Lions Club arranges all the Canada Day celebrations and we usually use the profits from the day where we sell hotdogs, hamburgers, and we have games. We usually use that for the fireworks. We purchase the fireworks and partner with the fire department,” shared Michaud.
“We have an activity day that usually runs from 12 to 4 where we have games, we sell hot dogs and hamburgers, and we sell Canada Day paraphernalia,” she added.
The celebrations usually take place at Farlinger Park (the town beach) but, due to a redevelopment project at the town beach, the Lions Club is still sorting out details for this year’s celebrations location.
Residents can keep their eyes on Facebook, as well as a future ad in the Bulletin, for further information on this year’s Canada Day festivities location in Sioux Lookout.
For those looking to donate to the Lions club, cheques can be made out to Sioux Lookout Lions Club – Box 23, Sioux Lookout, ON, P8T 1A1.
