MRI Donation
Members of CUPE 4373, representing hospital workers, presented the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) Foundation with a $25,000 donation on March 7 to help make an MRI unit a reality at SLMHC.
CUPE 4373 President Christina Davis shared, “It will be a union member holding the position and it’s near and dear to the hospital… the members agreed on $25,000.” She added, “We service so many communities, I know for a lot of people it’s hard to get to Thunder Bay or Winnipeg, so it is needed in this area so that people don’t have to do that travelling.”
SLMHC Foundation Vice-Chair Jackie Duhamel stated, “The Foundation is so appreciative of their support and understanding the significance of this lifesaving equipment. It will help so many people in Sioux Lookout and the region, allowing doctors to provide quicker diagnosis and therefore quicker treatments and surgeries.”
