In Loving Memory
Allan Lawrence “Gin” McInnes
December 30, 1958 March 4, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Allan, otherwise known as Gin, who passed away on March 4th, 2024 with a decline in health.
He was predeceased by his father Donald (Duke) McInnes and his mother Irene McInnes. He leaves to mourn his wife Mary Barrett, his daughter Caitlain McInnes, BROTHERS Rick (Clarisse) Henrickson, Randy (Cindy) Henrickson, Donald (Gale) McInnes, Peter (Verna) McInnes, SISTERS Judy Henrickson, Gerry (Robin) Kaartinen, Jane McInnes (Dave), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Allan faced persistent health challenges throughout his life, yet he navigated these trials with resilience and determination. He was strong willed and stubborn at times.
Allan also had an enormous heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was the kindest soul you will ever know. He was always helping others with knowledge he gained throughout his life experiences. He spent time working as an auto mechanic, Great Lakes Diesel mechanic, sawmill worker, fishing and hunting guide where he cooked the best shore lunches ever (Uchi Lake Lodge) and KDSB maintenance.
A lovely celebration of life was held at the legion on Sunday March 17th, 2024.
We want to extend our gratitude to all those who helped share the profound outpouring of love during Allan/Gin’s celebration of life. He reached and touched so many people in his life, as shown by the overwhelming overflow of family and friends, both local and distant, who graced the celebration with their heartfelt presence.
Thanks to all the family and friends who contributed delicious food, it went over very well. We express profound appreciation to those who braved nasty weather or traveled long distances to be present. The speeches deeply touched our hearts, everyone did a wonderful job. Additionally, heartfelt thanks are extended to Bonnie Jefferson for creating the unforgettable picture slideshow and to the anonymous benefactor who generously covered the Legion fee. Your collective efforts and gestures are immensely valued and deeply cherished.
Further thanks to the legion staff, Meg and Drew, who made things run smoothly and to Charron, for the beautiful centerpiece flowers.
Allan will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to have known him. His spirit, characterized by boundless generosity, radiant warmth and a genuine love for life, will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
Dad, you were my best friend. I will miss all the love and laughs we shared, as well as all the lessons you’ve taught me about hard work, responsibility, and respect.
Your endless love and encouragement will be missed but I know how proud you were of me. —Your Little Girl
