The logo for the 40th anniversary of Sioux Lookout’s Blueberry Festival has been revealed.
Dori Hopko, Blueberry Festival Committee President, explained, “We have our new logo, celebrating the 40th year for the Blueberry Festival. We used the same company that designed the Bombers’ logo, and it’s iconic! It’s got the Iron Bridge on it, the trees on it, Blueberry Bert, and of course it incorporates our traditional colors.”
As preparations for this year’s festival continue, Hopko was excited to share that First Mining Gold had just signed on as a platinum sponsor for the festival with a donation of $4,500. This is First Minig Gold’s first year supporting the festival.
While things continue to develop behind the scenes, Hopko noted they are still looking for individuals who can donate some spare time, noting, “We need volunteers for the festival, so if any students want to fulfill their community hours, the festival is always looking for help. We are also looking for new committee members, so interested individuals can reach out to the Blueberry Festival through the website at www.blueberrybert.com. We also have a position available for a coordinator for the festival, for anyone that might be interested.”
This year’s Blueberry Festival is scheduled to run July 29 to August 7.
The Blueberry Festival Committee has set a late June deadline for event registrations and sponsorships. As Hopko noted, “Event hosts are slowly coming forward, so please register for your event. We need the registrations by June 24 to allow us time to get everybody’s proper information ready to go to print for the booklet.”
As in previous years, t-shirts are going to be available for purchase. Hopko suggests emailing the festival office at festival@blueberrybert.com, adding, “If you’d like one just send us an email and we will get an order form out to you. If someone wants a custom order there’s no minimum order number, and the custom shirts will have the business name on the front of the shirt and the Blueberry Festival Logo on the back.”
Hopko hopes to have this year’s festival shirts available by the May long weekend.
Hopko concluded, “Please support the Blueberry Festival with us. It’s been forty years! We are reaching out to all previous Blueberry Festival coordinators, as we would like to do an alumni event. With the past few years of the of pandemic not enabling us to host events as big as we used to, we are really looking forward to a spectacular Blueberry Festival this year.”
The Sioux Lookout Bombers are continuing to garner community support as they prepare to take to the ice this September in the Superior International Hockey League (SIJHL)...
