Letters to the Editor
It’s not if, but when:
MTO has basically one job when every aspect of the position is broken down to its basic form. To ensure the roads infrastructure is SAFE. Safe ingress and egress of the transportation system. We have interesting challenges here in NWO as we have areas of unincorporated land, and areas that get little if any direction. So, in my opinion, the neighbouring community, Sioux Lookout, needs to show some leadership in things that are outside of their jurisdiction. As it’s citizens are involved in the region.
The Natural Spring on highway 72 is one such example. Now I don’t know if the great work being done on hwy 72 is or isn’t going to involve some improvements to the ingress and egress of the spring but it needs to be. MTO should on its own initiative be improving the safety there. If it is not part of the scope of the hwy work it needs to be and the town of Sioux Lookout needs to contact MTO to insist that it is going to be improved.
Over the years there have been multiple collisions with vehicles and pets of people getting water there.
And it’s not if, but when a young child is going to get killed there, if improvements
aren’t done.
Sincerely
John Milling
