Impaired charges laid following traffic stop

Sioux Lookout OPP arrested and charged one individual following a recent traffic stop.
Ontario Provincial Police in Sioux Lookout shared that, “On November 15, 2023, just after 5:00 p.m., members of the Sioux Lookout OPP conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle at the intersection of Highway 72 and Highway 664 in the municipality of Sioux Lookout after the vehicle was observed crossing over the fog line numerous times,” police shared in a Nov. 17 media release.
Sioux Lookout OPP say through further investigation, “it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle was impaired by drug and subsequently place under arrest and transported to the Sioux Lookout OPP detachment for further testing.”
As a result, a 53-year-old Hudson resident was arrested and charged with:
- Adult Operation While Impaired - Drugs and Alcohol
- Adult Failure to Comply With Undertaking
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on December 19 to answer the charges.
“The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it,” Ontario Provincial Police stated.
