Mike Laverty launches first novel, Hands of the Tyrants, to eager crowd
“When government controls art, art becomes farce.” So reads the opening sentence on the back of Micheal Laverty’s first novel, Hands of the Tyrants. Laverty, Sioux Lookout resident, launched his book on the third floor of the Centennial Centre November 17.

Possibility of more long term care beds, funding uncertain
Sioux Lookout could be getting an additional 20 long term care beds, however funding to make those beds a reality is proving to be hard to come by. Last week Sioux Lookout Mayor Dennis Leney and Sioux Lookout Chief Administrative Officer Ann Mitchell took part in a teleconference with members of the Northwest Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) to discuss more long term care beds for Sioux Lookout and area.
