Small tax increase, no service cuts outlined in town’s draft budget

A much higher public turnout February 11 at the Centennial Centre highlighted the discussion of the 2013 municipal strategic plan and 2013 budget. The previous budget meeting January 31 attracted just one member of the public. The February 11 meeting drew 30.

Sacred Heart School addition officially open

Sacred Heart School (SHS) students and staff, along with community members, celebrated the school’s recent five-classroom addition with a ceremony February 11.

Cool pool 

The House Two boys proudly show off the pool table snow sculpture they created as part of the Pelican Falls Centre Annual Winter Carnival held February 8 and 9. The Pelican Falls First Nations High School students were crowned over-all carnival champs. Over the winter carnival weekend, students competed in sixteen individual events, ranging from Cribbage, Chess, and Boggle, to nail-driving, arm-wrestling, tug of war foosball and a canoe relay.
