The Journey of New Beginnings II made its way through Sioux Lookout April 16 enroute to Thunder Bay. The walk is a fundraiser for a student living centre for Dennis Franklin Cromarty (DFC) High School.

The Sioux Lookout Out of the Cold Shelter is facing huge financial issues, according to executive director Susan Barclay, and if funds cannot be found by June, staff may be forced to shut down some parts of the shelter’s programming.

A gift at Pelican Falls gathering
Lac Seul First Nation Chief Clifford Bull, standing with community member Brenda Dovick, shows off a painting he received at Pelican Falls First Nations High School last weekend. Bull visited the school for the 15th annual powwow at Pelican Falls, which featured dancing drumming, feasts and traditional food.
We need more living space for the community, as a town without any living space is reasonably bleak..
