Festival of Trees scheduled for Dec. 11, still time to register trees for the event

The Sioux North High School (SNHS) Prom Committee is hosting a Festival of Trees on Dec. 11 and is inviting more businesses, organizations, and families in Sioux Lookout, Hudson, and Lac Seul First Nation to register and decorate trees for the event.
The event will run from Noon to 4:30 p.m. in the Sioux North High School Cafetorium. Twelve trees are already registered.
SNHS Teacher and Prom Committee Co-Coordinator Gaby Landheer said the Festival of Trees is a great way for local businesses and organizations to support community holiday events, as well as advertise their business to the community.
Trees can be themed or not. If people do wish to decorate their trees to a theme, Landheer suggests, “Maybe theme it to who they are and then we’ll invite the public in to look at all the trees and enjoy Christmastime.”
She said during the event, “We are going to have hot chocolate, a booth for kids to decorate some Christmas ornaments, hopefully some Christmas baking, and entry will just be a donation.”
Set up for the event will take place on Dec. 10.
People can register their tree for the event, or find out more, by emailing Landheer at gabrielle.landheer@kpdsb.ca. There will be a $25 registration fee to set up a tree for the event, which is a fundraiser for this year’s prom. Landheer said the school is hoping to make this an annual event.
