Dick's Hideaway:
Weaving seasons

Within the past few days Mary and I have had our first hot tub since late spring and we have sat beside a firepit blaze, also the first bonfire pleasure for several months.
Early leaf drops from a few of our birch trees occurred this week and a chickadee sat on the deck rail, reminding me to pick up a couple bags of sunflower seeds.
We're still appreciating wonderful weather as the finest summer for many years weaves smoothly into autumn. My sighting last week of an almost pure orange Wooly Bear leads me to predict a moderate winter ahead.
Bald Eagles are a daily sight here at camp, but two of them today spent most of their time close by, even perching in trees near enough that we could look right into their eyeballs. That wasn't typical and prompted me to have a little father/son discussion with the Wolfman.
The eagle here, staking out our deck from his tree half a football field away, looks grumpy and grouchy at first glance. After peering into his eyeballs for a moment, though, I am sure I recognize the look of kindness and wisdom in the soul of an old warrior.
