Iconic Canadian band Crash Test Dummies opened the Sioux Hudson Entertainment Series’ first show of the 2025-2026 season with a bang.
Taking place Sunday night (Sept. 21) at Sioux North High School, the Crash Test Dummies wowed the packed house with a mix of hits new and old.
“Superman’s Song”, “The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead”, and “Afternoons & Coffeespoons” drew thunderous applause and earned the band an enthusiastic standing ovation.
The band ended the night with one of their most famous hits, “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm”.
The alt-rock band, who reunited in 2018, have been selling out show worldwide ever since.
Opening for the band was singer-songwriter Carleton Stone, who warmed the audience up with works such as “Limousines” and “Monte Carlo”.
The Sioux Lookout performance was the second last stop on the Northwestern Ontario leg of the Crash Test Dummies’ North American Tour.
Sioux Hudson Entertainment Series Chairperson Alyson Martin said it was an amazing night, “I think the crowd, the turnout was phenomenal. For an opener, we couldn’t ask for a better audience. All different ages, walks of life, families, couples, individuals, it was just a really nice cross section of people from our community.”
She continued, “These performers, the opener, Carleton Stone was phenomenal. He really got the audience ready for what was going to come but really held his own up there and I think he’s got a lot of fans leaving tonight. And then when Crash Test Dummies came on the stage, you know that they’re iconic. There is that beautiful baritone voice (of lead singer and guitarist Brad Roberts), but oh man, what a group. The harmonies, everything about them, they were playful, they were serious, they were moving, they were joyous, they were just rock and roll. The world, the way it is today, I just felt the songs just really struck a deep chord. It just kind of resonated individually and collectively so it was just a great night out and great start to our series.”
The next show in the Sioux Hudson Entertainment Series will be award-winning pianist Sarah Hagen, who will perform on Oct. 25 at St. Andrew’s United Church. That show will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Passes and tickets are available on Eventbrite or at the door.
