A cooler than normal month of April in Sioux Lookout.
“April was a mean temperature of about minus 0.1 (degrees Celsius). That’s about three degrees below normal because the average mean temperature is 2.8, so almost three degrees below normal for the month of April,” informed Environment Canada Warning Preparedness Meteorologist
Peter Kimbell.
“It has been cool pretty much across the board in Ontario, including the northwest,” he added.
Kimbell said 19 millimetres of precipitation were recorded in Sioux Lookout last month, compared to an average of 44 millimetres.
Speaking on May 12, Kimbell informed a new temperature record was set in Sioux Lookout on May 11 at minus 7.8 degrees Celsius, eclipsing the old mark of minus 7.6.
“In the month of May, it’s been very cold as well. We’re only 11 days in, mean temperature for those 11 days was 2.8; average mean temperature for the whole month of May is 10.2… The temperature normally does climb pretty rapidly during the month, as it will this year as well,” he shared.
