Youth curlers back on the ice
The future of curling is back on the ice at the Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club (SLGCC). Thanks to the support and partnership from the Canadian Tire Jump Start program, Northwestern Health Unit and the SLGCC, a youth curling program was launched in November with the instruction provided by volunteers.
This 5-week Learn to Curl program introduced curling to youth who had never curled and by the end of the program were playing the game. It was very rewarding and promising to witness the progression of skill level while also having fun.
SLGCC has decided to continue this FREE program to grade 6-8 students beginning February 9 and running until March 9. This 5-week program is open to the first 16 registrants who are new or experienced curlers. All equipment is provided. Curlers only need to bring clean running shoes and wear comfortable clothing.
Registration form and information poster have been distributed through the schools and the deadline to register is February 7.
