Community Corner
Seniors Christmas dinner
For about 62 years, every Christmas season, the Sioux Lookout community and area have celebrated our seniors with the Seniors Christmas dinner.
Over the years this has been lead and supported by all of the local churches, Legion, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Shriners, Girl Guides… so many of the local businesses and hundreds of volunteers. What a wonderful celebration it was....... then Covid hit and the world shut down as did most community events.
The Christmas Committee have continued to meet every year with the hopes that we would be celebrating again in person with our seniors. This year the committee asked a lot of seniors and volunteers how they felt about getting together again, and although we got a lot of positive feedback about the dinner, we also felt that we had more concerns about getting together in a large group, especially as we know that Covid is slowly rising again and of course flu season is just around the corner.
So, once again, the committee has decided that for the safety and health of all involved, once again we are postponing this year’s Senior’s Christmas dinner.
We hope that in the future we will once again have a special event to honour our community seniors, but until then, we wish everyone a safe, healthy, and happy Christmas.
