Sacred Heart Girls Intermediate Volleyball Team Victorious!
On Thursday, November 20th, Volleyball players from both local Elementary schools headed to Dryden to play in the annual Dryden Area Schools Tournament. The competition was fierce and every single point in every game was hotly contested and very important. The Sacred Heart Boys team found themselves in a battle for the ages in the one set winner take all semi-final game. Tied at 24, with a hard cap at 25, the boys just missed getting the ball over the net to punch their ticket to the final game.
The Sioux Mountain Girls Team put in an impressive performance, coming in second in their pool and earning a spot in the bronze medal game against a very talented Obishikokkang squad. The Sioux Mountain Girls came out victorious and earned a well deserved third place finish.
The performance of the day belonged to the Sacred Heart Girls team. Led by Captain Lola “The Piranha” Pierce, the girls went undefeated in group play and found themselves up against a talented New Prospect School team in the finals. The girls never waivered and in a dramatic 2 sets to 1 game, the girls took the championship back home to Sioux Lookout to celebrate. Congratulations to all participants! The volleyball scene in Sioux Lookout is strong and competitive.
