Rotary partnership provides support for local organizations
The Rotary Club recently welcomed representative from the local organizations that benefitted from the Radio Bingo last season. The Dryden Rotary Charitable Foundation allocated $16,000.00 for Sioux Lookout organizations.
The bingo is an annual fundraiser operated by the Rotary Club of Dryden. The Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout assists with the distribution of cards and collection of sales locally each week.
Proceeds from the bingos are returned to the communities in the area where tickets are sold. As a result of Rotary Sioux Lookout’s partnership, the Club has had an opportunity to direct more than $200,000 to local organizations over the past twelve to fifteen years.
The proceeds of the 2023-2024 year were shared with the five area schools, Lac Seul Education Authority, Sioux North High School, Sioux Mountain Public School, Sacred Heart School and Pelican First Nations High School, for their student nutrition programs. The Club has assisted the school nutrition programs for several years with donations from the bingo proceeds.
In addition, this year the Club was able to designate support for Sioux Looks Out for Paws and The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation for the MRI Campaign.
Charitable organizations and non-profit organizations that primarily benefit the citizens of the Sioux Lookout area can apply for funds through the Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout or directly to the Dryden Rotary Charity Foundation. The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation applied this year and was awarded $25,000 directly from the Dryden Rotary Foundation for the MRI Campaign.
The Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout would also like to take this opportunity to thank the local retailers who sell the tickets for the weekly bingos. Thank you to: Fresh Market Foods, DJ’s Gas Bar, Sioux Lottery, Golden Eagle in Frenchman’s Head and Red Pine Store in Kejick Bay.
Enjoy playing bingo weekly and know that there is support for our community programming.
