Boot Drive raises highest amount to date
Fire fighters in Sioux Lookout were at the corner of the CN Underpass and Front Street and at the Town By-pass last Saturday morning collecting donations for Muscular Dystrophy Canada (MDC) through their annual Boot Drive.
Sioux Lookout Fire Chief Jeremy Funk shared, “First of all I would like to thank everyone who donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Boot Drive this year. Thanks to the generosity of the people of Sioux Lookout, the Fire Fighters Association will be able to make a donation of $4500 this year - our highest year to date.
“Secondly I’d like to thank the fire fighters and the Association for giving up part of their Saturday to stand in the street and collect donations on behalf of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. The relationship we share and the money that we donate year after year do a lot of good for the organization.”
These Mallards could be seen swimming in the open water along the shores of Pelican Lake from Lakeshore Drive on May 8, another sign of spring in Sioux Lookout.
