Arson investigation leads to arrest of three people

Ontario Provincial Police in Sioux Lookout have charged three people in relation to what they say was a deliberately set fire at a local apartment complex.
Police shared in an Oct. 28 media release, “At around 10:30 pm on Friday, October 25, 2024, members of the Sioux Lookout OPP responded to a report of a fire at an apartment complex on Millar Crescent. Quick reactions by a neighbour had extinguished the fire, but extensive smoke and water damage displaced individuals from approximately 17 units in the building.
“Following police investigation, three people have been arrested and charged in relation to this incident.”
A 32-year-old from North Caribou Lake First Nation has been arrested and charged with:
- Arson - Damage to Property
- Arson - Disregard for Human Life
- Break And Enter, and Mischief over $5000
A 27-year-old from North Spirit Lake First Nation has been arrested and charged with:
- Arson - Damage to Property
- Arson - Disregard for Human Life
- Break and Enter a Place - three counts
- Disguise with Intent
- Common Nuisance - Endanger Life, and
- Mischief Over $5000
A 23-year-old from North Spirit Lake First Nation has been charged with:
- Arson - Damage to Property
- Arson - Disregard for Human Life
- Break And Enter -two counts
- Common Nuisance - Endanger Life
- Disguise with Intent, and Mischief over $5000
All three accused have been remanded to custody and were scheduled to appear in front of the Ontario Court of Justice Kenora Regional Bail Court on Monday, October 28, 2024.
“The OPP would like to thank the firefighters from the Sioux Lookout Fire and Emergency Services and Paramedics from the Northwest Emergency Medical Services for their response to this call, and Ah-Shawah-Bin Sioux Lookout / Lac Seul Victim Support Services and the Canadian Red Cross for their assistance in supporting displaced persons,” Sioux Lookout OPP shared.
