An Evening of Classical Music
Boreal Music presented An Evening of Classical Music on the evening of June 3 at St. Andrew’s United Church.
Floorence Woolner, one of the coordinators of this year’s evening of classical music shared, “Boreal Music concerts began in Sioux Lookout in 1985. They were organized in the beginning by a local musician who wanted to provide a venue for classical musicians to perform in town. Some years were missed, but in most years since that time, there has been a concert in early June at the United church. The late Werner Stunzi, a classical guitarist, and Bob Johnston, a tenor and pianist, organized the concert for many years. Now a committee of Florence Woolner, Bob Johnston, Vera Kameda-Lacroix and Miriam Bernier are the organizers.”
Local musicians performed in a program which featured classical guitar, piano, violin and voice. Performances were solo, duets and small groups.
Approximately 70 audience members attended.
Proceeds from the evening went to support the Sioux Lookout food Bank.
