2SLGBTQIA+ Pride Parade
Community members and visitors to town for this year’s Blueberry Festival were invited to show off their support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and join the Sioux Lookout Pride Parade on Aug. 3.
The parade made its way through the downtown, concluding at Farlinger Park (Town Beach).
The Pride Parade was put on by QuISL (Queers in Sioux Lookout), a group of volunteers in the Sioux Lookout area uniting to support, educate, and advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in and around Sioux Lookout.
“The Parade went excellent! We had a much higher turnout in comparison to last year (nearly 80 people came out this year). We had some fantastic sponsors who helped us to put this event on, and even a visit from OPSEU (Ontario Public Service Employees Union) who came in support,” shared QuISL volunteer Reece Van Breda, adding, “Thank you to everyone who came out in support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community in Sioux Lookout - it really shows how inclusive and welcoming this community is. Sioux Lookout is for everyone!”
