The Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout hosted an evening of dinner, dancing, and fun for a good cause on Sept. 20 during their 21st Annual Lobsterfest at the Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club.
Dinner included lobster and ribs options with dessert. Silent and penny auctions also took place during the evening along with a 50/50 draw, and a contest to unlock and win a new Yeti cooler.
Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout President Andreas Kottschoth said the club sold approximately 170 tickets for the fundraising evening. Kottschoth thanked everyone who attended as well as the businesses and individuals who donated auction items and supported the event. While he said it was great to see so many people come out and enjoy the event and support local and international Rotary projects, he said it would be nice to see attendance return to the event’s past normal of approximately
300 attendees.
Greg Baas, a first time guest at the event, said, “The food was delicious. Very well organized. I would definitely come again.”
Monique Mousseau, a regular Lobsterfest attendee, said it’s a great event. “Rotary is always contributing to local organizations and events, so it’s great to be able to support them,” she added.
Eric and Valentin Root were in town visiting Eric’s sister Ariel. The couple, from Oslo, Norway, were invited to Lobsterfest by Norine Van Breda.
“It was great. We were best dressed table,” Eric said. “It’s really impressive how everyone comes together for an event like this,” he added.
Funds raised will support Rotary projects.
